In the precision of abstract structures, we find echoes of cultural memory, spiritual symbolism, and mathematical elegance. In this art piece, Interwoven Confluences, brings together two distinct yet harmoniously aligned geometric traditions—the Asanoha pattern from Japan and the Seljuk star patterns from Turkish cultural heritage.
The Asanoha, with its hexagonal, interlocking hemp leaves, has long symbolized resilience and growth in Japanese design. Meanwhile, Seljuk stars, constructed through intricate geometric principles, reflect an era where abstraction was embraced to convey metaphysical ideas. By merging these traditions within a creative coding framework, I seek to explore how geometric structures transcend time and geography, forming a universal artistic lexicon.

Exhibited at the EXPO2025, Osaka, Japan
Selçuk Artut’s technological artwork meets art lovers at the Turkey Pavilion at the EXPO 2025 World Fair in Osaka, Japan.
In this work, the artist creatively combines Japan’s traditional Asanoha pattern and Seljuk star motifs, an important element of Turkish cultural heritage. These two geometric patterns from different geographies and eras are integrated with Artut’s creative coding practice and reinterpreted in a timeless aesthetic harmony.
This special project exhibited at the Turkey Pavilion represents both Turkey’s vision in the field of contemporary art and its cultural richness on an international platform.
