About

Selçuk ARTUT is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher whose work explores the intricate theoretical and practical dimensions of human-technology relations. His artistic creations delve into the evolving interplay between humanity and technology, focusing on how these interactions shape perceptions, experiences, and the boundaries of creativity. Artut’s works have been featured in prestigious venues and events, including Sonar Istanbul, ISEA, AKM Istanbul, Siggraph, Dystopie Sound Art Festival Berlin, Moving Image New York, Art London, ICA London, Art Hong Kong, and the Istanbul Biennale. His contributions to contemporary art have been recognized in leading platforms such as Artsy, Creative Applications, CoDesign, Visual Complexity, and CNN GO.

Artut holds a Ph.D. in Media and Communications from the European Graduate School in Switzerland, which informs his critical and academic approach to art and technology. In addition to his artistic endeavors, he is the author of seven books and the editor of one, showcasing his scholarly engagement with the intersection of art, media, and technology. As a professor at the Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design Program at Sabancı University, Istanbul, Artut focuses on bridging the gap between art and technology, teaching courses that integrate creative coding, computational art, and media art practices. His pedagogy emphasizes innovation and experimentation, preparing students to engage with the rapidly evolving digital and technological landscape.

A multifaceted creator, Artut is also a musician. Since 1998, he has been a member of Replikas, a pioneering Post-Rock Avant-Garde music band with numerous albums to its credit. Extending his artistic practice to live performance, he cofounded RAW, an audio-visual performance duo, in 2016. RAW employs creative coding and live-coding techniques to craft compelling, algorithmic performances that push the boundaries of conventional music and visuals.
