Selçuk ARTUT is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher whose work explores the intricate theoretical and practical dimensions of human–technology relations. His artistic practice examines how these interactions shape perception, experience, and the boundaries of creativity.
Artut’s works have been presented in prestigious venues and events, including Sonar Istanbul, ISEA, AKM Istanbul, Siggraph, Dystopie Sound Art Festival Berlin, Moving Image New York, Art London, ICA London, Art Hong Kong, Hope Alkazar, and the Istanbul Biennale. Leading platforms such as Artsy, Creative Applications, CoDesign, Visual Complexity, and CNN GO have featured his contributions to contemporary art.
Holding a Ph.D. in Media and Communications from the European Graduate School in Switzerland, Artut approaches art and technology through a critical and academic lens. He is the author of nine books and the editor of one, reflecting his deep engagement with the intersection of art, media, and technology. As a professor in the Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design Program at Sabancı University, Istanbul, he focuses on bridging art and technology through courses on creative coding, computational art, and media art practices.
Throughout his career, Artut has traveled to more than thirty countries across six continents to deliver lectures, presentations, and workshops, fostering cross-cultural dialogues on art, technology, and creative innovation.
A multifaceted creator, Artut is also a musician. Since 1998, he has been a member of Replikas, a pioneering post-rock avant-garde band with numerous albums to its credit. Extending his artistic practice to live performance, he cofounded RAW in 2016, an audio-visual duo employing creative coding and live-coding techniques to craft algorithmic performances that challenge the boundaries of sound and image.
